Downtown City View
San Francisco, CA
This loft-style residence — an 1,800-square-foot, one-bedroom San Francisco pied-a-terre on the third floor of a new downtown high-rise — has a distinctly civilized vibe. The vibrant rhythm of downtown may be just a few steps away, but inside is a space for these well-traveled homeowners — a bachelor and his soon-to-be wife — to unwind and recharge. The design deftly blends the air of a boutique hotel with the comfort of home, leaning toward simple lines and rich materials for an overall palette that is clean and sophisticated. Painting the concrete ceiling in a high gloss finish to reflect the light, we incorporated existing pieces with new custom furnishings, including a custom-crackled screen to hide the television in the living room. We wrapped the central wall dividing the living and bedroom areas in grass-cloth, forming a distinctive anchoring point that unifies the space. Our client’s existing art collection – reframed and grouped together in a gallery – reflects our clients’ travels.
